Life After Love

This project explores the experience of elders after the loss of a partner. I chose to shoot entirely on 35mm black and white film, forcing me to be more intentional with what I chose to capture and allowing me to connect with both the subjects and their environments on a deeper level.
The first series features my Papa, focusing on the details of his space—the clutter, a shrine of family photographs, moments of him walking outside, and an intimate portrait with my Mom, his daughter. The second series turns to my Grandma, where I mirrored the same types of shots, including my Dad, her son. By doing so, I highlight both the parallels and the subtle differences in how each of them navigates life after loss.
